PICNIC 2012:

Dear Viewers,

We are happy to see that our Web-site has made tremendous progress since its formal inauguration on 26th January 2012. With the full cooperation of the Governing council as well as the un-stinted support of the general members of Cegowac, we have tried our best to fulfill the declared objectives of the site. The fact that more than 17,000 hits are recorded on this site within a short period, while our membership is less than 100, demonstrates the interest shown by the general public on our Web-site.

Our focus was mainly to bring to light, the cultural events staged by Cegowac family on the four quarterly get-together functions of Republic Day (our Annual day), Vishu, Onam and Children’s day celebrations. As can be seen on the Home page of this site, all these programmes were of a very high standard and have earned appreciation of the audience. Reports on the Picnics arranged by Cegowac to various tourist attractions inside and outside Kerala, informative speeches by learned dignitaries, sports and cultural competitions for the children etc. also have found its due share on our Home page.

While the ‘Circulars’ page, which was conspicuous with the ‘Message from our Secretary’, was intended to attract the attention of our members, the ‘Information’ page which was designed to highlight the developments in scientific and technological field etc, was aimed at the general public as well. The response of the viewers on these items, were quite encouraging.

However, we feel that the Blogging facility provided on our site was not utilised fully by our members, except in a few cases. We hope that our members will come forward to lead our web-site to the fore-front on this sphere also.

As already pointed out in our earlier blog, we look forward to each and every one of you to come forward and help us to place our site among the leading Web-sites of similar organizations.

Happy New Year and greetings on the Republic Day.

The long cherished desire of CEGOWAC is gradually materialising. The Executive Committee has gone ahead with its decision to have a Web-site of our own. Nowadays, it may not be a big achievement for anybody to have a web-site, as almost all organizations are having own web-sites. But in our case, we feel proud of the fact that, though belated, CEGOWAC also has entered the class of organisations, who are able to interact with their members through their own web-sites.

Our intention is to promote the literary and artistic talents of our members through this site. We propose to present before the outside world, the inbuilt talents of our members and their families, through the reports on our activities, given on this site. Also any literary or artistic works of our members or their family, can be published through this site.

If you have something to bring before the outside world, you can utilise our blogging facility. Anything you may like to scribble down on current topics, which are of interest to the general public, may find a place in the ‘Members' Blogs’. The only limitation is that of the space available and also that the blog may be of a reasonable standard. Simply go the 'Feedback' page and write your blog in the box headed 'Comments' and the rest will be done by us.

Another activity planned by us, is to give an Email-id to the members of CEGOWAC, who would like to have one, as ‘your-name@cegowac.com’. You may send an e-mail to Webmaster@cegowac.com for assigning your new mail-id @cegowac.com. Those who are not having a registered email-id at present, may contact the Secretary, CEGOWAC or the Editor of the Web-site, over phone.

A new page titled "Members Only" has been introduced to post the restricted information, which are to be read by CEGOWAC members only. Password for opening this page has been sent by e-mail to all the members. Members who have not received the mail, may contact "webmaster@cegowac.com".

As you know, our Web-site is only at it's infant stage. Your valuable suggestions only can lead it forward and place it among the leading web-sites of similar organisations.
